Law Enforcement Guidelines

Submitting Legal Process

Send inquiries from an official government email address to legal@townchirp.com. Include the requesting agency, officer name and contact information, applicable authority, the legal process or signed request, a specific date range, and TownChirp account or reference identifiers.

Email is provided for intake and coordination and does not waive any objection or constitute consent to jurisdiction or formal service of process. TownChirp may require formal service through an appropriate legally authorized method.

Preservation Requests

Clearly label a request Preservation Request. Identify the account or records to preserve, the relevant date range, the legal authority, and the requesting official. Preservation does not guarantee that requested data exists and does not itself authorize disclosure.

Emergency Requests

Clearly label a qualifying request Emergency Request and describe the specific imminent danger of death or serious physical injury, why the requested information is necessary to address it, and why ordinary legal process cannot be obtained in time. TownChirp evaluates emergency requests individually and may seek verification or additional information.

TownChirp is not connected to 911 and does not provide emergency dispatch. Contact the appropriate emergency service first when someone may be in immediate danger.

Review and Disclosure

TownChirp authenticates the requesting agency and reviews each request for valid legal authority, scope, and specificity. When disclosure is legally required or otherwise lawfully permitted, TownChirp seeks to disclose only responsive records. TownChirp may notify an affected user unless prohibited by law or notice would create a safety risk.

User and Civil Requests

These guidelines are for government and law-enforcement personnel. Users seeking their own records should contact legal@townchirp.com. Civil litigants should use applicable legal process and should not use the emergency channel.
